Club page: Te Anau Senior Walking Group
The Te Anau Senior Walking Group (part of the BNZ Active Walkers initiative coordinated by Sport Southland) is a sociable club for locals and visitors to Fiordland that meets weekly for walks. Its walks vary in length and time from two hours to all day. The club welcomes walkers of all ages, but many are over 55 years old and the pace is leisurely; the club is not a tramping club and they say they walk at their own "comfortable pace".
The club's walks are around Te Anau, Manapouri and further afield, thanks to the many walking routes in this beautiful place. The club considers itself fortunate to live in such an amazing area giving access to bush or wide open spaces on walking tracks. Walkers bring their own refreshments, or walks are planned around a coffee shop stop!
To join a walk, simply turn up at the Department of Conservation visitor centre car park in Te Anau (a ten minute walk south along the lakefront from Te Anau centre) at 9am on Wednesdays.
